I used to shy away from belts at all costs, probably because of my love of low waisted anything: pants, denim, skirts, briefs, you name it! You’d never know it though, as I have, and continue to collect, belts on the regular. Maybe it’s because belts create instant interest to an outfit? or maybe because they take up little to no space in my closet? Regardless, belts provide more than just shape (and protection from your pants falling down). Defining more than just a waist – a good belt can provide detail, encourage attention (or distraction) and provide polished perfection.

With rises on pants only getting higher (anyone tried the “ribcage” rise yet?), It’s no wonder I keep seeing (and falling in love with) bigger, wider, statement belts. Maybe it’s the season, or other accessory trends, but layering belts is also on my mind lately. Layer wide and thin, leather and metal, skinny with skinny with skinny. You get the idea. If layering isn’t for you, try a BIG statement corset belt to punch up your sweater game. Here’s my take on layering and a statement corset – which do you prefer? Or are you still shy about belts?
