When it comes to accessories, my jewelry collection is desperately in need of updates and additions. I recently started collecting, mainly because my little humans are past the grab and yank anything off my body phase. Because of this, I find myself on the hunt for a combination of fun and classic pieces that can carry me from statement piece to everyday. One style I cannot wait to add to my collection is shell or sea life jewelry.

I remember going crazy for the cowrie/cowry trend in my younger years, hemp stringed chokers and anklets filled my jewelry box then. Now, I’m still crazy for that particular shell, however I prefer it dressed up a bit and preferably in gold. On my hunt I found so many other pieces to love and there’s nothing better than sharing the love, so here we go!

shell yeah1

These handmade shell embroidered earrings will make a mermaid out of anyone. I love the level of detail on these pearl, crystal and shell earrings. Delicately embroidered on vegan leather and connected by small chain pieces. These are light enough for all day wear and bold enough to match your beach hair, don’t care attitude.

Chelbella

casted captiva shell

If you’re lucky enough to live locally, you probably already know Kerrin Falk. Growing up on the Connecticut shoreline and honing her design skill at “The School by the Sea” it should come as no surprise that she has a wonderful assortment of sea inspired jewelry to chose from. My personal favorite is the Casted Captiva Shell Necklace. It is perfectly sized and weighted to make a statement but I’d still wear it everyday.

chanluu

Ive been a fan of Chan Luu for over a decade. I love the simplicity and delicate femininity of her pieces. She grew up on the beaches of Vietnam and has been working with shells since stringing them together to create her first pieces as a child. I love stacking these two Cowry shell bracelets together for a easy layered look. The ease of the pull tie paired with the sophistication of the pearl cuff is fun and grown up at the same time.

bali necklace

This flat snake chain with a simple plated cowry shell is equal parts (in the words of Carrie Bradshaw) “ghetto gold” fabulous and simply chic. So fun with joggers and a vintage tee or with a silky cami or thin strapped dress.
